  2. Understand the principles and functions of behaviourUnderstand the core mechanics of behaviour, including the four-term contingency, and identify the four main functions of behaviour: attention, escape or avoidance, access to tangible items and sensory stimulation.
  3. Contribute to functional and contextual assessmentsCollect and record objective, measurable information about environmental triggers, antecedents and individual motivators to support multidisciplinary assessment processes.
  4. Implement Behaviour Support Plans consistentlyFollow individualised Behaviour Support Plans accurately in daily practice to reduce behaviours of concern, promote skill development and support procedural fidelity.
  5. Apply ethical, least-restrictive crisis de-escalationRecognise and use least-restrictive, non-aversive reactive strategies during high-stress situations while working safely within relevant legal and safeguarding frameworks, including the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS and the Human Rights Act.
